About Us

The Dandelion Academy is a place for learning and growing around all things related to serious illness and human mortality, especially for those of us who work in health care.

We seek to be a force for equipping and empowering health care workers to have meaningful, heartfelt and productive interactions with patients and families who are reckoning with the reality of decline and death.

We know how wearing it can be to do this tender, unique work, and that those engaged in accompanying the dying need a special kind of rest and restoration. We also have tools available for reflection, meditation and encouraging for those of us who do this work - whether regularly or occasionally. We provide our handmade videos, in-house created meditations and curated Box of Thoughts for your soul's sustenance.

At dandelion, we believe that beauty can hide in some of the hardest stuff there is. Some people see a dandelion as just a weed, growing wild and unwanted. Another way to see a dandelion is as a beautiful, resilient, even nutritious plant, that can thrive almost anywhere.  We are here to help all of us notice the hidden  beauty of the work of encountering and accompanying human mortality.

Megan Del

Our founder has been creating and teaching courses for her colleagues in health care for several years. She has been working with seriously ill people and caring for those at end of life since 2007. Most of her work has been on interdisciplinary palliative teams, with much of that in various ICU formats.  She is a board certfied chaplain and finds flowering weeds beautiful.

Our 2021 Intern

Our  2021 Intern didn't want their picture taken so this is a stock pic of a person. But! Our intern is gifted and behind the video production you see on youtube. And probably responssible for any other aesthetically pleasing thing you see in the Dandelion world.
